June 27, 2008      American Travel Sampler Announces Family Travel Survey

HOUSTON — The publishers of AmericanTravelSampler.com want to hear Americans' views on the importance
of family vacation trips to U.S. destinations. A link to a short, anonymous, 7-question survey will be available on the site
through September 1, 2008.

The survey results will be used to determine the direction of a proposed scholarship program to help American families
with children pay for vacation trips they might otherwise not be able to afford.

Launched in June 2006 by Houston writer Susan Burnell and husband Bob Burnell, American Travel Sampler is a free,
easy-to-use resource for finding patriotic, historic and family-friendly destinations and events throughout the United States.
The site offers links to all 50 states’ official tourism Web sites, national and state parks, presidential libraries, museums,
campgrounds, RV parks, events calendars and other travel resources.

The site's publishers recall the lasting impressions childhood trips with their families made. "My parents were educators,
and so were Bob's," said Susan. "My folks would pack up the car and drive us to
Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, the
Wisconsin Dells, Niagara Falls and Washington, D.C. Bob has similar travel memories that include trips to Deadwood,
South Dakota; Devils Tower in Wyoming; and being fascinated by a Civil War diorama in Chattanooga, Tennessee (now
The Battles for Chattanooga
Museum). We learned a lot about the country's natural wonders and American history in a way
books or classes couldn't possibly reveal."

Taking inspiration from those formative experiences, the Burnells hope to help families with school-age children afford
memorable learning vacations. "The scholarship fund idea has emerged as one way we may be able to do that," said Bob.

Susan Burnell is an award-winning writer and founder of Imagination Ink Business Writing and Public Relations. Bob
Burnell is a 29-year veteran of the printing and graphics industry.
